About the DLMC

The Anita Grover MD ’74 and Tom Hargrove P’14 Digital Learning and Media Center (DLMC) is a state-of-the-art learning space serving as a collaborative studio, classroom, computer lab, showcase for student work, and hub for creativity.  The DLMC supports faculty and students in the completion of projects ranging from video narratives (digital storytelling) to podcasts, mapping projects, webpage and site design, and more.

For Students

The DLMC provides a number of services to students to help support projects, including: 

  • Workshops to learn new skills and tools
  • A staffed service desk for help when needed
  • A borrowing collection with audio and video equipment
  • The MakerNook for maker projects and advanced project creation
  • A dedicated storage server to support project creation

For Faculty

The DLMC works with faculty collaborators to help them integrate a variety of projects into their courses.  This includes: 

  • Project consultation to align support with projected learning outcomes
  • Detailed plan for support, including potential workshop sessions and open hours for student support
  • Collaboration on every element of the project, including model assignments and assessments

Support

Led by the Instructional Designer for Innovative Media and a team of skilled student Media Mentors, the DLMC provides support throughout the week. With expertise in digital media and learning the support team collaborates with faculty to complement their approach to teaching. Staff come from a variety of backgrounds, and are adept at handling projects that span the entire range of offerings from the DLMC, including comprehensive support for audio, video, web, and print projects.
